WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION FOR CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION
Washington Association of Diversified Occupations Teachers (WADOT)

 

CONSTITUTION  

 ARTICLE  I – Name  

The name of the organization shall be: WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION OF DIVERSIFIED OCCUPATIONS TEACHERS and is a subsection of the Washington Association for Career and Technical Education.

 ARTICLE  II – Objectives

The objectives of the organization shall be:  

1.      To assume and maintain active leadership in the promotion of Diversified Occupations; Cooperative and Instructional Work Based Learning in the State of Washington and to cooperate with the Washington Association for Career and Technical Education.  

2.      To render service to members by providing for discussion and consideration of questions and problems pertinent to Diversified Occupations and/or Work-Based Learning Coordinators.  

3.      To unite all Diversified Occupations and/or Work-Based Learning Coordinators and other interested groups and individuals.  

4.      To promote and recognize Diversified Occupation, Career Choices and/or Work-Based Learning Education as integral and important to the total education program  

5.      To acquaint individuals in the general field of education and their organization with the scope of the program and the need for Diversified Occupations, Career Choices and/or Work-Based Learning.  

6.      To aid members in preparing youth for cooperative and/or instructional work-based learning experiences which link education directly to the workplace.  

7.      To assist in the development of improved professionals in Diversified Occupations, Career Choices and/or Work-Based Learning Programs.  

8.      To cooperate with other organizations in the improvement of training and occupational standards of Diversified Occupations, Career Choices and/or Work-Based Learning Programs.  

9.      To unify the methods of conducting the activities of the group and to promote good fellowship among the members.  

10.  To promote professional development through inservice activities among the members.

 

ARTICLE  III – Membership  

A.     Membership:  The membership of this organization shall consist of active and honorary members.

1.      Active members shall include those who are currently working as teachers, administrators or state staff persons in a Diversified Occupations, Career Choices and/or Work-Based Learning related position in Washington State or who anticipate starting a program or continuing a program previously in existence and have paid their current dues.  Active members also include those who have an interest in WBL and related school-based learning who are members of advisory committees, parent groups, or businesses. All Active members have the right to hold office and receive copies of all organizational publications. 

 2.      Honorary members are those who have contributed to the concept and mission of the Diversified Occupations/Career Choices Program and have been recommended by the Executive Committee and voted as Honorary members by the general membership. Honorary members may not hold office or vote in elections.

B.     Voting:

1.      All Active members shall have one vote on issues brought before the general membership for consideration.

C. Dues:

1.      The dues of this organization shall be that amount approved by a majority vote of the members present at an annual meeting, and as approved in the By-Laws.

 ARTICLE  IV – Officers  

The officers of the organization shall be: President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer and WA-ACTE Board Representative.

 ARTICLE  V – Amendments

This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the active membership present at the annual summer meeting provided that members are informed at the registration site of the conference that constitutional changes will be discussed and voted on during the general meeting provided they receive copies of the proposed changes at the registration site prior to the annual general summer meeting.  All proposed changes to the constitution must first come before and be approved by the executive committee.

 ARTICLE  VI – Parliamentary Authority

Robert's Rules of Order, as revised, shall be the authority on questions of parliamentary rule.
